AC - 220
ALUMINUM CLEANER

DESCRIPTION:

AC-220 is an ideal soak cleaner for aluminum that is highly buffered to prevent attack on Aluminum, Babbitt and other metals. The cleaner has good detergency and rapidly removes light oils, light buffing compounds and marking inks.

Emulsification: Rapid.
Toxicity: Non-toxic.
Causticity: None.
pH 1 % Solution: 11.1
Wetting Ability: Excellent.
Odor: None.
Rinsing. Complete.

SAFETY ON METALS:

AC-220 will not damage plastics, rubber or fabrics when used according to manufacturer's directions. It is safe on the following metals;

  • Steel.
  • Aluminum.
  • Cadmium.
  • Chromium.
  • Iron.
  • Lead.
  • Zinc.
  • Magnesium.

OPERATING CONDITIONS:

Concentration: 6-8 oz./gal.
Temperature: 120º - 150º F.
Time: 1 to 5 minutes.
The higher the concentration of AC-220, the greater the speed of cleaning.

Typical cleaning cycle using AC-220:

  • Soak clean, AC-220 (508 oz. per gallon at 165º F.) 3-6 minutes.
  • Cold water rinse.
  • Etch, with ETCH-290 or ETCH-292.
  • Cold water rinse.
  • Deoxidize, in DX-230, DX-232 or DX-234.
  • Cold water rinse.
  • Anodize, chrome conversion coating 151-AL, resistance weld, etc...

EQUIPMENT:

Steel or stainless steel tank are used successfully. Stainless steel heater are recommended.

CAUTION:

AC-220 is mildly alkaline in nature and contact of the salts or solution with the skin or eyes should be avoided. In case of contact, flush skin or eyes with copious amounts of cool water. In case of contact with the eyes, medical attention should be obtained.
