DX - 338 – L
DESCRIPTION:
Triple-s DX-338-L is a non-chromated Deoxidezer and desmutter for use on all aluminum alloys at room temperature.
UNUSUAL FEATURES:
- DX-338-L will safely desmutt/deoxidize all aluminum alloys eliminating a need for more than one deoxidizer.
- Being liquid, DX-338-L eliminates the adding of dry compound to the tank.
- DX-338-L has an indefinite bath life, as there are no ingredients that will die during use life.
- Being Chromate free, DX-338-L does not present the usual disposal problems.

TYPICAL DESMUT OPERATION:
- Soak clean in Triple-s AC-220.
- Cold water rinse.
- Etch in Triple-s ETCH - 290 or 292.
- Cold water rinse.
- Desmutt, DX-338-L at 15 to 25 % by volume.
- Cold water rinse.
- Anodize, chem-film or final finish.
SAFETY PROCEDURES:
- DX-338-L contains a blend of strong acids and should be handled with the normal safety procedures required for products of this type.
- Avoid contact with skin or eyes.
- Avoid prolonged breathing of fumes from concentration.
- Personnel should wear the normal protective equipment for working with acid; Rubber gloves and apron, plastic face shield or goggles.
- Should accidental contact with skin or eyes occur, flush area with generous amounts of water and contact physician.
SOLUTION CONTROL:
- Pipette a 10 ml. bath sample into a beaker.
- Add 4 to 6 drops of phenolphthalein (indicator).
- Fill automatic burette to zero mark with 1 N. Sodium Hydroxide.
- While stirring the sample, slowly run in sodium hydroxide until pink color is obtained.
- Multiply number of mls. required by product factor to determine percent of volume in solution.
- Product factor equals: 1:0.
