PATINA BLUE VERDE # 11- NEW
Tiffany Blue on Copper, Brass and Bronze |
|
This chemical solution develops a beautiful Blue
Verde Patina directly on Copper, Brass (Solid or Plated) and Bronze.
Moreover, this process does not require previous treatment with antiquing
solutions. The metal needs to be cleaned and free of grease, oil, sealers,
waxes and/or paint. Some specific applications include copper gutters,
roofs, lighting fixtures and any artistic creations. This process is
especially used for copper roofs and copper gutters.
Coverage Area: Each gallon of Blue Verde # 11 covers approximately 300
sq. ft.
To develop direct Blue Green Verde on Copper:
1. Part must be free of oil, grease, wax, sealers and paint. Clean
the part with a Scotch-Brite pad and a mild cleaning detergent such
as Ajax. For a more thorough cleaning, use Triple- S’ Cleaner
# 104 which is a mildly corrosive cleaner that will properly ready
the part for Blue Verde # 11. Make certain to thoroughly flush the
part with water to remove any residue of the cleaning agent.
2. Spray Blue Verde # 11 patina with a plastic sprayer (garden pesticide
sprayer) or any low-pressure sprayer. Do not over spray! A light mist
of the Blue # 11 is enough to develop the patina. If the piece is
small, dip it in the solution for 5 seconds and let it react.
3. Whether to apply a sealer and/or wax to the part depends on use
outdoors versus indoors. Triple- S’ WSL-55 (flat or gloss) is
an excellent sealer for the patina. If the part is to be placed outdoors,
it should be protected with a sealer. Not doing so will affect the
adhesion properties of the Patina. The longer Blue Verde # 11 sits
on the metal (i.e. at least a month), the better the adhesion process
and a sealer may not be necessary. DO NOT apply the patina and immediately
place an unsealed part outdoors as fog, mist, and/or rain can wash
away the patina. Apply the sealer, WSL-55, once the patina is dry
(typically 4-6 hours) and allow it to air dry.
4. If the product is for indoor installation, it typically does not
need to be sealed. However, if the Patina is on a piece (indoors OR
outdoors) that will be exposed to constant human touch, such as a
door knob, it should be sealed
To develop Green Verde on Blackened Copper Roofs:
1. Clean the part with Cleaner # 104 (diluted 50% with water).
2. Rinse with water.
3. Spray, brush or dip the part in Patina Blue Verde # 11.
4. Let it dry.
5. Spray, Brush or dip in Patina Blue Verde # 11 for 10 seconds.
6. Let it dry.
7. To protect the Patina, apply or spray water based lacquer, WSL
-55, on top of the Blue Verde color.
